The Society for the Promotion of African, Asian and Latin American Literature (Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Literatur aus Afrika, Asien und Lateinamerika) belongs to the group of external specialists collaborating with UNESCO. The Society's LITPROM List gives access to important contemporary literary works from the so called 'Third World'. Since these literatures are often written in less disseminated languages, they are up to now not or little known outside their cultural context - despite their literary value.
The LITPROM database allows to search for works of literature according to certain criteria such as "country of origin", "original language", "author", "genre" etc. In addition to bibliographic data the database also provides the user with reviews of the works listed and other essential information.
